About this club
Albury Wodonga Cycling Club (AWCC) is a welcoming road and track cycling club serving the Albury-Wodonga region on the NSW–Victoria border. The club brings together juniors, adults, newcomers and experienced racers, with opportunities ranging from learning fundamental cycling skills through to competitive road, criterium and track racing. Track cycling is an important part of the club, with regular junior and senior training at the Lavington Sports Ground Velodrome in Albury. Structured sessions cater for different abilities and new riders are welcome, providing an accessible way to experience track cycling and develop skills, speed and confidence in a controlled environment. Junior development is a particularly strong focus. AWCC delivers AusBike learn-to-ride programs for children, helping young riders develop the fundamental skills and confidence they need to enjoy cycling safely. Junior road rides provide another pathway for developing cyclists, using local bike paths and experienced ride leaders to introduce young riders to riding in a group. For those ready to race, the club runs a varied program of road races, criteriums and handicap events across the Border region. Riders don't necessarily need to belong to AWCC to participate either, with appropriately licensed members of other AusCycling clubs welcome at many club events. AWCC also has a proud connection to one of Australia's long-running road cycling events, the John Woodman Memorial Cycling Festival. The event evolved from the famous Wagga to Albury Cycling Classic, a challenging city-to-city handicap race whose past winners include Australian professional and multiple Grand Tour stage winner Michael Matthews. The modern festival has evolved into graded road circuit and criterium racing, opening the event to a broader range of riders while preserving an important piece of the region's cycling history. The club also continues to host other long-running events, including the Geoff Dixon Memorial Handicap, while its riders have opportunities to progress from local racing into regional, Victorian and national-level competition. Whether you're looking to get the kids confident on two wheels, discover track cycling, try your first criterium, join local road racing or chase bigger competitive goals, Albury Wodonga Cycling Club provides a great connection to the cycling community on both sides of the Border.
