About this club

Alice Springs Cycling Club (ASCC) is a long-established, multi-discipline cycling club based in Alice Springs in the heart of Central Australia. Operating since 29 June 1966, the club brings together riders for road, track and cyclocross, with everything from social and recreational riding through to structured training and competitive racing. At the heart of the club is its outdoor velodrome in Braitling, with the clubrooms located just around the corner on Cameron Street. Regular track training and racing gives riders the opportunity to develop speed, power, bike handling and race craft, and you don't need to already own a specialist track bike to get involved – ASCC has a fleet of track bikes available for club members to use. Road cycling is another major part of club life, and the landscapes surrounding Alice Springs provide a pretty spectacular place to ride. The annual calendar includes criteriums, individual time trials, road races, handicaps, hill climbs and Gran Fondos, alongside regular training and social rides. For riders who prefer a challenge without the pressure of racing, the club's Gran Fondo rides take advantage of some of Central Australia's scenic roads, with different pace groups and support vehicles helping make the longer distances accessible to a broader range of riders. ASCC also embraces the adventure side of cycling. Its supported multi-day touring rides include trips such as the West Macs Cruise and Kings Canyon Cruise, taking riders beyond Alice Springs and into some of the Northern Territory's most spectacular landscapes. The West Macs Cruise traditionally covers around 500km over three days, combining big days on the bike with a genuinely memorable Central Australian riding experience. There's a pathway for new and developing riders too. Newcomers interested in track cycling can use an AusCycling four-week trial membership, while the club's equipment program helps members access bikes and other cycling equipment for training and racing. Junior riders can also access Northern Territory Sports Vouchers towards eligible club costs. Behind the riding and racing is a volunteer-driven community with a strong emphasis on participation, safety, rider development and simply enjoying cycling. Members can get involved not only as riders but also through event organisation and officiating, with pathways available to train as AusCycling commissaires and race directors. Whether you're looking to experience track cycling, join a road bunch, try your first race, tackle a Gran Fondo or explore Central Australia on a supported multi-day ride, Alice Springs Cycling Club offers one of the most diverse cycling communities in the Northern Territory.
