About this club
Bendigo & District Cycling Club (BDCC) is a long-established cycling club based in Bendigo, Victoria, bringing together juniors, adults, newcomers and experienced racers across track, road and gravel cycling. Competitive cycling has been part of Bendigo life since the 1880s, and today the club continues that tradition with racing throughout the region all year round. Track cycling is a major part of the club's identity, with its home at the Tom Flood Sports Centre velodrome in central Bendigo. From spring through summer and into early autumn, the outdoor velodrome comes alive with racing under lights, regular club competition and track carnivals. The venue is also home to the famous Bendigo International Madison Carnival, which began in 1972 and has become an iconic part of Bendigo's cycling culture. For riders new to the boards, BDCC runs its popular J-Cycle junior introduction program during the track season. Accredited coaches introduce young and novice riders to the fundamentals of track cycling, helping them develop bike handling, confidence and race skills in a structured environment. Importantly, the club has a fleet of more than 40 junior track bikes available for newcomers to use during their first season, making it much easier for families to try the discipline before investing in specialist equipment. When the track season winds down, the racing heads onto the roads surrounding Bendigo. The club runs criteriums, scratch races, handicaps and other road events, taking advantage of the quiet country roads and varied terrain throughout the region. Long-running races and memorial events help maintain Bendigo's strong tradition of grassroots road competition. Gravel racing has also become a genuine part of the club's program. With an extensive network of gravel roads surrounding Bendigo, BDCC now incorporates dedicated gravel racing into its calendar, giving riders another way to compete and explore the region beyond the bitumen. The club welcomes men and women, juniors and adults, experienced racers and complete newcomers. Riders interested in trying competition can access AusCycling's four-week trial membership, providing an opportunity to experience eligible club racing before committing to ongoing membership. Bendigo has produced riders who have progressed to Olympic and Commonwealth Games teams, World Championships and professional racing, giving the club a proud high-performance history. At the same time, BDCC remains firmly focused on accessible grassroots racing, junior development, fitness, friendship and giving riders of different abilities the opportunity to pin on a race number. Whether you're looking to introduce a junior to track cycling, experience racing under lights at the Bendigo velodrome, try your first road race, tackle a handicap or discover gravel racing, Bendigo & District Cycling Club offers a fantastic connection to Bendigo's long-standing cycling community.
