About this club

Carnegie Caulfield Cycling Club (CCCC) is one of Melbourne's largest and most successful cycling clubs, with a history stretching back to 1924. Based in Melbourne's south-eastern suburbs, the club brings together hundreds of riders across road, criterium and track cycling, from children learning fundamental bike skills and riders entering their first race through to elite competitors, national champions and Olympians. The club's traditional home is Packer Park Velodrome in Carnegie, a venue with a long connection to Melbourne cycling. Track racing at Carnegie became particularly popular through the 1950s, 60s and 70s, when major meetings attracted large crowds and the Caulfield Cup on Wheels became one of Melbourne's leading amateur track races. Packer Park remains an important base for the club and its development programs today. CCCC is perhaps best known today for its criterium racing. The club's summer racing at Glenvale Crescent in Mulgrave has developed a reputation as some of Melbourne's classic club racing, with the fast circuit catering for multiple grades and riders ranging from novices and juniors through to Elite competitors. Glenvale has also hosted Victorian championship racing, including the 2026 Junior and Senior Criterium Championships. Sandown Raceway provides another distinctive racing venue, giving cyclists the opportunity to compete on the famous motor-racing circuit. Carnegie Caulfield has used Sandown for criteriums, individual time trials and junior competition, including rounds of the Victorian Interschool Cycling Series. Junior development has been a major part of Carnegie's identity for generations. The club established an early junior program in 1931, and its modern programs continue to teach bike handling, fitness, riding skills and racing fundamentals while providing pathways into road, track and criterium competition. Glen Eira City Council has recognised the program's role in progressing riders from grassroots participation through to national, Olympic and World Championship levels. The pathway starts well before racing. The club also delivers AusBike programs at Packer Park, helping children build foundational riding skills in a structured environment before they decide whether they want to progress further into cycling. For developing racers, CCCC is heavily involved in Victorian junior competition. In 2026 the club hosted a round of the Victorian Junior Road Series, incorporating racing for U11 through U17 riders and the Mother's Day Classic Women's Road Race. The club has an exceptional competitive history, producing riders who have gone on to win National and World Championships and represent Australia at the Olympic Games. Its history includes riders such as Olympic and World Championship medallists Shane Perkins and Mark French, while numerous other Carnegie riders have progressed from grassroots club racing into elite cycling. Importantly, that elite history doesn't mean you need to be an elite cyclist to belong. Carnegie Caulfield describes its mission as developing world-class talent while supporting all levels of club racing, social events and rider education, and its programs span Juniors, Women, Men, Masters, U23 and Elite riders. Whether you're looking to get a child confidently riding, try your first criterium, learn the skills of track cycling, join regular club racing or develop towards state, national and international competition, Carnegie Caulfield Cycling Club offers one of Melbourne's most established pathways into competitive cycling.
