About this club
Castle Hill BMX Club (CHBMX) is a family-focused BMX racing club based at Fred Caterson Reserve in Castle Hill, North-West Sydney. Affiliated with AusCycling, the volunteer-run club provides a welcoming pathway into BMX for children, teenagers and adults, from riders getting around the track for the first time through to experienced State and National-level racers. The club's home, Castle Hill BMX Track, is a purpose-built 312-metre BMX race track featuring a 3.5-metre start hill and four straights. Facilities include a permanent shelter over the start gate, nearby asphalt warm-up area and lighting for evening riding. Importantly for riders discovering the venue outside club activities, the track is also open to the public. Regular club racing forms the backbone of Castle Hill BMX, with multiple club series rounds held throughout the year. Racing caters for the different stages of BMX participation, from young riders and Sprockets through the age classes, Cruiser categories and experienced competitive racers. For riders who are completely new to BMX, the club offers beginner coaching before selected club race days. Qualified coaches work through the fundamentals of BMX including bike setup, body position, gate starts, pumping, cornering, jumps and obstacles. Sessions aren't only for kids either – beginner teenagers, mums and dads are welcome to get involved. The barrier to giving BMX a go is kept relatively low. Riders can start on a suitable functioning bike rather than immediately purchasing a dedicated race machine, while the club has a limited supply of full-face helmets available to borrow for people trying the sport. Eligible newcomers can also use AusCycling's four-week trial membership before committing to full membership. Once riders have the basics, there are plenty of opportunities to develop further. Wednesday evening gate practice gives licensed riders regular time on the start gate and track, while qualified coaches also operate private group coaching sessions for riders looking to improve their technique, speed and race craft. Castle Hill provides a clear pathway beyond club racing into NSW State Series, State Championship, National and international BMX competition. The club remains strongly represented throughout the NSW/ACT racing scene, with Castle Hill riders regularly travelling to State Series rounds and competing across junior, Challenge, Cruiser and Superclass categories. The track itself has the credentials to host major racing. Castle Hill hosted the 2025 AusCycling BMX Racing State Championships – New South Wales, bringing Mini Wheelers, Sprockets, Challenge, Cruiser, Junior Superclass, Superclass and Masters competitors together for the state's premier BMX championship. Keeping everything running is a substantial volunteer effort. Castle Hill BMX Club maintains the BMX track itself, with race-entry income, sponsorship and volunteer labour helping fund and deliver ongoing track maintenance. Families and members are encouraged to help with race setup and other jobs around the facility, making the wider club community an important part of its success. Whether you're looking to get a child started in BMX, learn how to use a start gate, join your first club race, develop your skills with coaching or progress into State and National competition, Castle Hill BMX Club provides a strong and welcoming pathway into BMX racing in Western Sydney.
