About this club

Dubbo Cycle Club (DCC) is one of New South Wales' longest-established cycling clubs, with a road and track racing heritage dating back to 1884. Based in Dubbo in Central West NSW, the club caters for everyone from children taking their first laps on a balance bike through to social riders, Masters, State and National-level competitors. The club's home is the impressive Dubbo Regional Cycling Facility on River Street, featuring a 400-metre outdoor velodrome and 1km sealed criterium circuit. Built in 2020, the facility also includes sports lighting, covered grandstand seating, change rooms, amenities, function space and a canteen, creating a dedicated traffic-free environment for training, racing and junior development. The venue regularly hosts higher-level competition, including the NSW Junior Track Championships. Track cycling is a major part of club life, with the main season running through the warmer months from approximately October to March. Tuesday night racing brings together riders ranging from Tiny Tots on balance bikes, BMX bikes and training wheels through to junior track riders and graded senior racers. Senior competition ranges from E through to A Grade, allowing developing and recreational riders to share the program with some seriously quick cyclists. For anyone curious about track cycling, Dubbo provides a particularly accessible entry point. New riders attend training sessions before beginning racing so they can learn track etiquette and demonstrate the necessary skills, and the club has track bikes available to loan to newcomers. Regular junior and senior training gives riders an opportunity to develop bike handling, speed, tactics and confidence before lining up to race. When the weather cools, attention shifts towards road racing, with events held at several locations around Dubbo from approximately April through September. The program includes graded scratch races, handicaps, time trials, mini tours and club championships, while junior road racing is also held on the traffic-free criterium circuit. The criterium circuit helps bridge the seasons, with criterium racing available throughout the year. Combined with the road and track programs, this gives members the opportunity to experience several different styles of competitive cycling without needing to join separate clubs. Junior development is a particular strength. The club caters right from Tiny Tots and Super Tots, allowing very young children to experience organised cycling before progressing onto track bikes and junior racing. Dubbo has also delivered AusBike, Australia's national learn-to-ride program, giving children a structured pathway for developing balance, bike handling and confidence before moving towards club training or competition. That grassroots pathway has produced some outstanding cyclists. Current Dubbo riders continue to compete successfully at State, National and international level. In 2026, club results included Daniel Barber winning Oceania track sprint bronze, junior Euan Billsborough competing at the NSW Track Championships, and Masters rider Erica Lunney collecting multiple National Championship titles and an Australian record. The club's history and modern facilities make for a great combination: more than 140 years of cycling heritage alongside a purpose-built venue where the next generation can start riding and racing in a safe environment. Whether you're looking to get the kids riding, borrow a track bike and try the velodrome, enter your first criterium, join graded road racing or develop towards State and National competition, Dubbo Cycle Club provides one of Central West NSW's strongest pathways into road and track cycling.
