About this club
Eastern Cycling Club (formerly Eastern Vets Cycling Club) is a Masters road-racing club in Melbourne’s east, organising competitive but friendly racing for men and women over 30. The club aims to be diverse and inclusive, with a focus on safety, fitness, camaraderie and fun racing. The club runs around 130 races a year across two seasons. Summer (October to April) is criterium racing of at least 55 minutes plus a lap on 1–2 km circuits including METEC at Bayswater North / Kilsyth, the Kew Boulevard Teardrop, Rocco Drive (Scoresby), Casey Fields, Bazalgette (Dandenong South), Holloway (Bayswater) and Dunlop Road (Mulgrave). Winter (May to September) is open-road racing of about 40–65 km at Jindivick, Yarra Glen, Gruyere and Seymour. Year-round Wednesday morning racing at The Loop on Kew Boulevard starts at 10:15am. A Tuesday evening summer series at METEC starts at 6:00pm. Most races are graded scratch (A to F). The club also runs handicaps, two time trials and age-based club championships (criterium, TT and road). Except for championships, races are open to all AusCycling-licensed riders. Tail lights are required on public-road races. AusCycling’s four-week free trial is available for eligible new members. Come along to a race as a spectator or trial rider. Eastern Cycling Club is volunteer-run, with a duty roster supporting the calendar. Membership is through AusCycling.
