About this club
Eastern Goldfields Cycle Club (EGCC) is based in Kalgoorlie in the Eastern Goldfields of Western Australia. The club runs coffee rides, road races and dirt trail rides, and organises the Goldfields Cyclassic and Community Fondo when that event is on. The club traces its origins to the late 1920s, when mining was booming on the Goldfields. Today it combines recreational and competitive riding and offers training rides through the week for a range of abilities. Saturday road rides meet at 6:00am across the road from Monty’s in Porter Street, heading out via Hannan Street, Williamstown Road and Bulong Road. On Sundays in race season, riders meet at Monty’s at 7:30am for registration; otherwise a training ride is by arrangement. The club asks first-time group riders to get in touch beforehand and to follow its group-ride etiquette. An AusCycling ride or race licence is strongly recommended so riders are insured. The club’s Cyclassic site stated that the 2025 Goldfields Cyclassic did not go ahead, while remaining committed to members. Kalgoorlie Miner reported in April 2026 that the event was cancelled for a second year. The club’s published race-calendar page still points to a 2024 fixture. Membership is through AusCycling. The club hires road bikes by the week for people wanting to try the sport. EGCC is the Kalgoorlie road and trail club — distinct from Eastern Goldfields BMX Club at West Lamington.
