About this club
The Esperance Mountain Bike Club, also known as the Esperance Mountain Bike Association (EMBA), is the local mountain biking organisation helping riders enjoy and develop sanctioned trails around Esperance on Western Australia’s spectacular south coast. The association has been working with the Shire of Esperance since at least 2008, advocating for legitimate trail access and putting plenty of volunteer effort into building and maintaining local riding opportunities. A major focus for the club is the Esperance mountain bike park at Myrup, just outside Esperance. The club established approximately 15 kilometres of MTB track within the reserve, with volunteers maintaining the network through regular working bees. Importantly, the trails aren't just for members or race days – they're available for the wider community and visiting riders to enjoy when club events aren't taking place. The network includes The Piggery, an approximately 11-kilometre loop that packs plenty of riding into a relatively compact area. Trails WA describes the network as offering everything from cross-country and technical riding through to flow, jumps, enduro-style terrain, a skills park, dual slalom and pump track features. Beyond maintaining its home trails, EMBA has also acted as a voice for mountain biking in the region, working with local government and other stakeholders around sustainable trail access and future development. It's a grassroots club that has helped turn local enthusiasm for MTB into an established public trail network in one of Australia's more remote – and spectacular – coastal destinations. RTS TIP: Esperance might be famous for white beaches and ridiculously blue water, but pack the mountain bike too! Head out to The Piggery for a local trail fix, then make a proper trip of it and explore everything else this incredible corner of WA has to offer.
