About this club
Fraser Coast Cycling Club (FCCC) is a welcoming road cycling club serving Hervey Bay, Maryborough and the wider Fraser Coast region of Queensland. The club brings together juniors, recreational cyclists, Masters riders and competitive racers, providing opportunities to develop riding skills, experience criterium and road racing and become part of the Fraser Coast cycling community. Criterium racing is a major part of the club's current program, with racing held on a closed circuit within the Hervey Bay Airport Industrial Estate at Urangan. The traffic-free environment provides a great venue for short, fast racing while allowing the club to cater for riders across multiple grades and experience levels. One of the club's current fixtures is the Nick Mason Memorial Criterium Series, with racing for juniors through to senior and Masters categories. Junior racing is further divided into age and graded groups, allowing younger riders to develop progressively rather than being thrown immediately into faster open competition. Junior development is a particular strength of Fraser Coast Cycling Club. The club has consistently produced young riders progressing through Queensland's development pathway and into State and National competition. In 2026, Jake Perkins and Bryn McDonnell were both selected in Queensland's team for the AusCycling Junior Road National Championships, with Perkins racing U15 and McDonnell U17. McDonnell has progressed even further through the national development pathway, earning selection to the AusCycling Road Development Academy and its team for New Zealand's Yunca Junior Tour of Southland. Other Fraser Coast juniors have also previously been selected for AusCycling development programs, demonstrating a genuine pathway from regional club racing towards higher-level competition. The club isn't limited to juniors. Masters and senior riders remain an important part of the racing community, with Fraser Coast members regularly appearing in Queensland criterium and road events alongside riders from clubs throughout Brisbane, the Gold Coast, Sunshine Coast and regional Queensland. FCCC also connects into the wider endurance-sport community around Hervey Bay. The club works alongside other local sporting organisations, including Hervey Bay Triathlon Club, with combined events appearing on the current 2025–26 calendar. This broader local cycling network gives riders additional opportunities to train, ride socially and become involved beyond traditional club racing. As with many regional cycling clubs, volunteers are essential to making the program happen. Race days rely on people helping with course setup, registration, marshalling, timing and other roles, with the club's current events actively calling for volunteers alongside race entries. For Fraser Coast riders, having an active local club is particularly valuable. Rather than travelling several hours south to access regular organised racing, riders can develop their skills locally before branching out into Queensland State Series, championship and national-level events. Whether you're looking to get a junior into cycling, try criterium racing, build your race skills, compete as a Masters rider or progress towards State and National competition, Fraser Coast Cycling Club provides a strong connection to road cycling on Queensland's Fraser Coast.
