Geelong BMX Club (Geelong Thunder)

Geelong BMX Club – home of Geelong Thunder – is a well-established BMX racing club based at Grinter Reserve in Newcomb, Victoria, continuing a rich BMX history in the Geelong region that stretches back to the early 1980s. Today, the club provides a welcoming community where riders can discover BMX, develop their skills and experience the excitement of racing. The club caters for riders across a range of ages and experience levels, from Mini Wheelers and novice riders through to experienced racers, with club racing and other riding opportunities providing plenty of ways to get involved. Geelong Thunder riders also compete throughout the wider Victorian BMX scene, including events such as the Best of the West Series. The club's home at Grinter Reserve has undergone significant improvements, with new sports lighting and track upgrades completed during 2026. Further improvements are planned as the club and City of Greater Geelong continue developing the facility, with the track recognised as a high-quality venue capable of supporting major BMX competition. Geelong Thunder has a proud record of developing riders too, with club members progressing to national and international-level BMX racing. In 2026, five Geelong Thunder riders were selected to represent Australia at the UCI BMX Racing World Championships in Brisbane, highlighting the pathway available for riders who want to take their racing further.
