Gladstone Mountain Bike Club

Gladstone Mountain Bike Club (GMTB) is a community-focused mountain bike club based in Gladstone, Central Queensland, bringing together riders of all ages, abilities and disciplines. The club is all about getting people onto bikes, whether that means having a first crack at mountain biking, joining a social ride, developing skills, racing or helping look after the trails. The club’s home is Gladstone Mountain Bike Park at Kirkwood, with around 25 kilometres of trails ranging from flowing green beginner loops through to technical blue and black terrain. There’s a surprisingly varied mix packed into the park, including cross-country singletrack, rocky technical sections and dedicated gravity-style descents featuring berms, jumps and drops. GMTB runs a mix of social rides, races, coaching opportunities and community events throughout the year. The club also works to introduce new riders to the sport, including youth Come & Try sessions covering riding skills, trail etiquette and basic bike maintenance. As an AusCycling-affiliated club, riders can get involved socially or competitively, with options available for riders and non-riding volunteers alike. A huge part of the club’s work happens away from race day. Volunteers help maintain, develop and advocate for the Gladstone Mountain Bike Park, with membership directly supporting trail maintenance, events and the continued growth of mountain biking in the region. The park has grown considerably since its first trails were constructed around 2015, becoming Gladstone’s main public-access MTB destination. RTS TIP: Don't just think of Gladstone as somewhere to stop on the drive up the Queensland coast. The MTB park has enough variety for a proper session, so throw the bike in and make it part of the trip.
