Happy Valley BMX Club

Happy Valley BMX Club is one of South Australia’s longest-running BMX clubs, with a history stretching back to the early 1980s. Originally based at Happy Valley Sports Park in Aberfoyle Park, the club affiliated with the South Australian BMX Association in 1981 and has grown from humble beginnings into a club with an impressive history of developing riders and hosting major BMX competition. The club’s original Happy Valley track underwent several major upgrades over the years and hosted six South Australian State Championships, the 2001 Australian National Championships and the 1999 Australian Masters Games. Happy Valley has also produced riders who have competed and succeeded at state, national, world and Olympic level, making it an important part of South Australia’s BMX story. In 2023, Happy Valley moved into the purpose-built Sam Willoughby International BMX Facility at O’Halloran Hill, sharing the venue with The Cove BMX Club. The facility was developed after the two clubs joined forces to pursue a modern BMX venue capable of supporting everything from grassroots participation through to major competition. There are plenty of opportunities for riders to get involved, from young Mini Wheelers and Sprockets through to junior, Challenge, Masters and elite-level racers. Happy Valley continues to host club racing and major AusCycling events, including rounds of the South Australian BMX Racing State Series and the 2026 SA State Championships. RTS TIP: Happy Valley has helped produce some seriously talented BMX riders, including Olympian and BMX World Champion Sam Willoughby, who started racing at the club when he was just six years old.
