About this club
Kooralbyn Valley MTB Club Inc. is a volunteer-run mountain bike club based at Kooralbyn in Queensland’s Scenic Rim, with a pretty special piece of Australian MTB history sitting in its backyard. The original Kooralbyn trails hosted national-level events, were used as a training facility by the Australian MTB team, and even saw Cadel Evans race at the 2001 National XCO Championships. When the original Kooralbyn resort closed in 2008, the once-famous MTB trails were left unused and gradually disappeared beneath the bush. Years later, a group of passionate local riders began finding, clearing and restoring the old tracks, eventually forming Kooralbyn Valley MTB Club and bringing the riding destination back to life. Today, the club is the driving force behind Kooralbyn Valley Mountain Bike Park, working to build, maintain and grow a diverse network catering for riders from beginners through to experienced gravity racers. There's a bit of everything here — cross-country, technical climbing, flowing descents, jumps, gravity enduro and downhill, with trails ranging from green through to double black. Kooralbyn has also returned to the racing map, hosting XC, endurance, gravity enduro and downhill events, including national and Oceania-level competition. The park continues to feature on the Queensland racing calendar, with downhill, gravity enduro and endurance events bringing riders back to the Scenic Rim throughout 2026. The park is 100% volunteer-run, with money generated through riding, shuttles and events directed back into trail maintenance, upgrades and new trail development. That grassroots effort is helping the club pursue its goal of once again making Kooralbyn one of Australia's standout mountain biking destinations. RTS TIP: There's some serious MTB history hiding in these hills! Ride trails once used by the Australian MTB team, tackle the terrain where Cadel Evans raced a National Championship, then check the club calendar — Kooralbyn regularly hosts XC, enduro and downhill action. Better yet, every visit helps support the volunteers bringing this iconic old-school riding destination back to life.
