About this club
Launceston BMX Club is a long-established BMX racing club based at St Leonards, just east of Launceston, Tasmania, providing riders and families with a dedicated place to discover, develop and enjoy BMX. The incorporated club has been operating under its current entity since at least 2000 and remains an active part of Tasmania's BMX racing community. The club calls the purpose-built Launceston BMX Track at 240A St Leonards Road home. The facility provides the classic BMX race experience, with a start gate, fast straights, rollers, jumps and large banked berms designed to develop pumping, jumping, cornering and race skills. Launceston BMX welcomes riders across a huge range of ages and abilities, with opportunities beginning from two years old on balance bikes and extending through juniors to adult racers. Come & Try sessions provide a great introduction for newcomers, with coaches, officials and volunteers helping riders learn the basics in a friendly and supportive environment. The club also has some loan bikes and helmets available at selected introductory sessions. For riders keen to race, Launceston is an important venue on the Tasmanian BMX calendar, regularly hosting club competition and larger events. The track has hosted rounds of the AusCycling Tasmania BMX Racing State Series as well as major national competition, including the 2022 AusCycling BMX Racing National Championships. The club continues to host significant events, including the Tassie Thunder and Presidents Cup, bringing BMX riders together from around Tasmania and beyond. Whether you're introducing a little rider to BMX, keen to try racing yourself or looking for a club where you can continue developing your skills, Launceston BMX Club is a great place to become part of Northern Tasmania's BMX community.
