About this club

Launceston City Cycling Club (LCCC) is a long-established cycling club based in Launceston, Tasmania, providing opportunities for riders to enjoy, develop and compete across road and track cycling. From juniors discovering organised cycling through to experienced Elite and Masters competitors, the club plays an important role in the cycling community of Northern Tasmania. Road cycling forms a major part of club life, with LCCC involved in road races, individual time trials and criterium competition. Graded and age-based racing provides opportunities for developing riders to gain experience while giving established competitors plenty of scope to challenge themselves and progress into higher levels of the sport. The club also has the experience and volunteer base to host significant State-level road competition. The club also has a strong connection with track cycling, continuing Launceston's long tradition of velodrome racing. LCCC is involved with the city's cycling carnival culture, providing opportunities for junior and senior riders to experience disciplines such as scratch racing, keirin and wheel races alongside other traditional track events. Junior development is an important part of the club's identity. LCCC supports young riders as they develop their skills and confidence, with pathways extending from introductory cycling and school programs through to State and National-level competition. AusCycling has specifically recognised the work of club volunteers delivering Come & Try sessions and schools programs, highlighting the club's contribution to bringing new riders into the sport. For riders wanting to take their cycling further, the club provides a pathway into competitive road and track cycling. LCCC riders regularly progress beyond local competition, and the club has helped develop athletes who have gone on to compete at the highest levels of Australian and international cycling. Olympian and international track cyclist Josh Duffy, for example, began track cycling with Launceston City Cycling Club as a teenager before progressing through the Tasmanian Institute of Sport and into the Australian Cycling Team. Like many community cycling clubs, LCCC relies heavily on its volunteers, coaches, officials and families to make racing and development opportunities possible. Its contribution extends beyond simply running club events, with members involved in the broader Tasmanian cycling community and the delivery of cycling programs and major competitions. Whether you're looking to introduce a young rider to cycling, try your first race, test yourself against the clock, experience criterium racing, get onto the track or progress towards higher levels of competition, Launceston City Cycling Club provides a strong connection to road and track cycling in Northern Tasmania.
