Launceston Mountain Bike Club

Launceston Mountain Bike Club (LMBC) is a not-for-profit club supporting the mountain biking community across Launceston and Northern Tasmania. For more than 20 years, the club has helped riders of all ages and abilities get involved in the sport, growing to more than 250 members and offering everything from relaxed social riding through to competitive XC and gravity events. LMBC has some fantastic riding right on its doorstep, with Trevallyn, Kate Reed and Hollybank forming the core of the local trail scene. Trevallyn sits just four kilometres from central Launceston, Kate Reed offers around 15 kilometres of trails only 10 minutes from the CBD, while Hollybank adds approximately 20 kilometres of riding ranging from beginner-friendly trails through to double-black terrain. There's plenty happening throughout the year, including the club's popular weekly summer XC Twilight Series, gravity events, social rides and skills days. Racing moves between venues such as Kate Reed, Trevallyn and Hollybank, giving riders a great excuse to experience different parts of Launceston's trail network while becoming part of the local MTB community. Trail stewardship is also a huge part of LMBC. The club coordinates volunteer working bees at Trevallyn, Kate Reed and Hollybank, working with the relevant land managers to keep trails sustainable and riding well. Volunteers help with everything from drainage and vegetation clearing to general trail repairs, and you don't need to be a club member or experienced trail builder to lend a hand. RTS TIP: Launceston is a brilliant base for an MTB trip because you don't have to travel far to find good riding. Hit Kate Reed and Trevallyn close to town, venture out to Hollybank, and if you've got more time, Blue Derby is only around 90 minutes away. Check in with LMBC while you're there too — a social ride, Twilight race or trail day is a great way to tap into the local riding scene.
