About this club
Leongatha Cycling Club is a South Gippsland club established in 1959. It is based around the Leongatha velodrome and is distinct from South Gippsland BMX Club and from Latrobe City Cycling Club, already on the hub. Club racing historically mixed Saturday winter road races with summer velodrome events. Members built a new velodrome in 1979, which hosted carnivals until 2007. The club later ran combined events with other Gippsland clubs and added cyclo-cross before Covid. The club’s about page says that in 2025 it would continue social rides and junior development at the velodrome. The homepage notes AusCycling’s move to the JustGo membership system in August 2026. In 2026 the club ran the eighteenth John Sauvarin Memorial Day on Sunday 29 March, a Heart Foundation fundraiser that drew riders from Queensland, Omeo, Latrobe Valley and Melbourne. Membership is through AusCycling. Current ride and race details are on the club website. Leongatha Cycling Club is the named road and track club for Leongatha — not a vague Gippsland community listing.
