About this club

Macarthur BMX Club is a large, family-focused BMX racing club based at Kirkham Park in Elderslie, South-West Sydney, providing opportunities for riders of all ages and abilities to discover BMX, develop their skills and progress through to high-level competition. Established in 1998 by a group of local parents determined to bring BMX racing to the Macarthur region, the club began without a track or facilities of its own. With support from Camden Council, local businesses and the community, the original Kirkham Park track was developed and opened in 2001. Since then, Macarthur BMX has grown into one of Australia's larger BMX communities, with riders representing the club at local, State, National and international levels. BMX racing is at the heart of the club, with racing designed to cater for a huge range of ages and experience levels. Children can begin on balance bikes through Mini Wheelers, progress into Sprockets and junior racing, while teenagers and adults can continue through age, open and competitive classes. Dedicated adult categories also help make BMX something riders can enjoy well beyond their junior years. For riders who are new to racing, Macarthur provides a pathway into the sport rather than expecting newcomers to immediately understand how BMX competition works. Novice racing opportunities allow riders who can confidently ride a bike but haven't raced before to experience the track and develop their skills before progressing further. Gate practice and rider development are a major part of club life. Practice sessions give riders the opportunity to work on starts, track technique, confidence and race preparation while spending time with the wider BMX community. The social atmosphere around these sessions is an important part of the club, bringing riders and families together outside formal competition. The club's home at Kirkham Park is a significant BMX facility in its own right. The track features an 8-metre start hill, one of only a small number of full-size start hills in Australia, giving advanced riders access to a facility capable of preparing them for elite-level competition. At the same time, the venue has been designed to cater for younger and developing riders, staying true to the club's original aim of providing a track that encourages juniors while still challenging experienced competitors. Macarthur BMX has also established itself as an important major-event venue, regularly hosting State and National-level BMX competition. Its facilities and experienced volunteer community allow riders to experience everything from friendly local racing through to competition alongside some of Australia's leading BMX athletes. Like most successful BMX clubs, Macarthur is about much more than the riders on the track. Parents, volunteers, officials and supporters form a major part of the community, helping deliver racing, practice sessions and events while creating the family atmosphere for which the club is known. Whether you're looking to get a young child rolling on a balance bike, try BMX racing for the first time, improve your gate starts, race with the family or develop towards State, National and international competition, Macarthur BMX Club provides a welcoming pathway into BMX racing in South-West Sydney.
