Macleay Valley Mountain Bikers

Macleay Valley Mountain Bikers (MVMB) is a volunteer-driven mountain bike club based in Kempsey on the NSW Mid North Coast, bringing together riders of all abilities while playing a major role in developing and maintaining mountain biking in the Macleay Valley. The club's home is the Kalateenee Mountain Bike Trails in Kalateenee State Forest, just south of Kempsey. The network offers around 25–30km of XC and gravity trails, with riding suitable for beginners through to advanced mountain bikers. Much of the network is also suitable for adaptive bikes. MVMB holds a permit with Forestry Corporation NSW to manage and maintain the trails, with club volunteers putting significant time into keeping the network running and continuing to improve the riding experience. Kalateenee has seen some substantial upgrades in recent years, including the reconstruction of five enduro trails, new and improved gravity features, a dedicated forest carpark and accessible toilet facilities. These improvements have helped make the park more accessible to riders, families and support crews while strengthening it as a mountain bike destination for the wider region. MVMB isn't just about racing. The club runs a weekly Saturday social ride that's open to members and non-members, welcoming riders of different styles and abilities to get out and explore the trails together. Members can also get involved behind the scenes through trail maintenance, events, BBQs and other club activities. For riders who do want to race, there's plenty happening. MVMB hosts cross-country, Gravity Enduro and Mini-Duro racing at Kalateenee, with junior and beginner-friendly options alongside events for more experienced competitors. The club's 2026 Macleay Valley Coast MVMB Race Series includes multiple weekends of XC and gravity racing, continuing Kalateenee's history of hosting regional and NSW-level competition. MVMB has a strong focus on making mountain biking accessible to the wider community too, including junior opportunities and free school-holiday skills sessions designed to introduce young riders to the fundamentals of the sport.
