About this club

Manning Great Lakes Tip Riders Mountain Bike Club (MGLTR) – affectionately known as the Tip Riders or “Tippies” – is a volunteer-driven mountain bike club based around Taree on the NSW Mid North Coast. The club brings together local riders while playing a huge role in building, maintaining and developing the impressive Kiwarrak Mountain Bike Park. Located in Kiwarrak State Forest just south of Taree, the club's home trail network has grown from a handful of hand-built trails into around 80km of mountain bike riding. Rather than one or two set loops, Kiwarrak is an interconnected web of predominantly two-way singletrack, giving riders an enormous number of ways to put together a ride. There's something for almost everyone, from family-friendly and beginner trails through to flowing XC, technical singletrack and gravity-fed trails featuring jumps, drops, bridges and other purpose-built features. The Tippies and the local trail-building community have spent decades shaping Kiwarrak, and their commitment was particularly evident after the 2019 Black Summer bushfires and subsequent flooding devastated the network. Around 50 bridges and almost 40 jumps were lost. A major rebuild and enhancement project has since transformed the park, adding new trails and features, improved parking, toilets, signage and better access for adaptive riders. The redevelopment also included a 2.7km adaptive mountain bike trail, helping make Kiwarrak accessible to an even broader riding community. The club isn't only about building trails. There are social rides and regular dig days throughout the year, giving both locals and visiting riders opportunities to meet the community, discover the network and lend a hand maintaining it. Marked 5km, 10km, 15km and 20km routes also make it easier for riders unfamiliar with Kiwarrak to find an adventure that suits their experience and fitness. For those who enjoy racing, the Tip Riders have a strong history of hosting cross-country, enduro and state-level MTB events. Their signature PBM Hardrock 6 Hour brings riders to Taree for six hours of Kiwarrak singletrack, with solo, team, male, female and e-bike categories. The event returns in October 2026 for its eighth running. Whether you're looking to explore one of the Mid North Coast's biggest trail networks, meet other riders, lend a hand on the trails or line up for a race, the Manning Great Lakes Tip Riders are at the heart of the Kiwarrak mountain bike community.
