Mersey Mountain Bike Club

Mersey Mountain Bike Club (MMBC) is a volunteer-powered mountain bike club based around Devonport on Tasmania’s North West Coast, bringing together riders from across the Mersey region for racing, social riding, trail development and plenty of time on the bike. The club has a long association with the local MTB scene and continues to support riding opportunities across Devonport, Latrobe, Railton and the surrounding region. One of the club’s local riding areas is Kelcey Tier at Devonport, home to an extensive network of singletrack just minutes from the city. The area provides everything from approachable green trails through to more technical riding and has regularly been used for club racing and events. MMBC has also been closely involved with the incredible Wild Mersey Mountain Bike Trails, which connect Latrobe, Railton and Sheffield through almost 100 kilometres of purpose-built riding. The club has used the network for events including its 90-Minute Series and longer point-to-point racing, giving riders plenty of reasons to explore beyond its Devonport home base. Racing remains a big part of the club, but there's a strong emphasis on keeping it accessible. MMBC events include relaxed No Frills racing, twilight events, cross-country and gravel racing, with grades catering for experienced competitors right through to first-timers who simply want to have a crack. The club has also hosted rounds of the North West Mountain Bike Series, taking riders to different trail networks across the region. RTS TIP: If you're staying around Devonport, you're in a pretty handy spot for a riding holiday. Start with Kelcey Tier close to town, then head towards Latrobe and follow the Wild Mersey network through Railton and Sheffield.
