Mersey Valley Devonport Cycling Club

Mersey Valley Devonport Cycling Club (MVDCC) is a well-established road and track cycling club based in Devonport on Tasmania’s North West Coast, providing opportunities for juniors, adults and Masters to develop their riding, enjoy competition and become part of the region’s cycling community. With a strong tradition of both road and track cycling, the club caters for developing riders through to cyclists competing at State and National level. Road cycling is a major part of the club’s identity, with MVDCC involved in road races, criteriums and individual time trials across the North West region. Different race formats give riders the chance to develop bunch-racing skills, endurance, tactics and time-trialling ability, while providing pathways from local club competition into broader Tasmanian and National racing. The club is particularly well known for its commitment to junior cycling and rider development. MVDCC has a long history of introducing young riders to competitive cycling and providing opportunities for them to progress through the junior age groups. The club hosts significant junior road competition and its young riders are regularly represented in Tasmanian development programs and higher-level racing. Mersey Valley Devonport also has a strong association with track cycling. Its Devonport base includes the cycling track surrounding Devonport Oval, where the club is recognised as one of the resident sporting organisations. Track riding complements the club’s road program, helping riders develop speed, race craft and bike-handling skills while continuing Tasmania’s long tradition of track and cycling carnival competition. The club caters for adult and Masters riders as well as juniors, creating opportunities for cyclists to remain involved in competitive riding throughout different stages of life. MVDCC riders are represented across junior, senior and Masters competition, reflecting a club community that spans a broad range of ages and experience levels. MVDCC also plays an important role in delivering major cycling events in North West Tasmania.
