Mildura BMX Club

Mildura BMX Club – home of the Mildura Storm – is a long-established, family-oriented BMX racing club based in Mildura in north-west Victoria. Formed in 1980, the club originally raced at Apex Park before moving to its current home at the Old Aerodrome Sporting Complex in 1995, and has grown into one of the region's key cycling communities. The club's dedicated BMX facility on Flora Avenue, Mildura features an approximately 400-metre BMX race track, combining purpose-built jumps and fast straights with banked corners to create plenty of opportunities to develop bike handling, jumping, pumping and race skills. The club has more than 130 members, with riders ranging from young children discovering BMX through to adults continuing to race well into later life. There's plenty of opportunity to get time on the track, with open practice on Tuesday and Thursday evenings and a busy club racing calendar. Mildura runs more than 30 club race meetings each year, giving riders the chance to progress from learning the basics and practising gate starts through to regular competition. Racing caters for a broad range of ages and abilities, beginning with Mini Wheelers and Sprockets and progressing through junior and senior Challenge classes, Cruiser and open-wheel categories. For families with multiple riders, BMX can very much become a whole-family sport, and Mildura Storm prides itself on maintaining an inclusive and welcoming club environment. For riders keen to take their racing further, Mildura is also an important stop on the Victorian BMX racing calendar. The club regularly hosts major competition and in March 2026 welcomed riders for Rounds 2 and 3 of the AusCycling BMX Racing State Series – Victoria, with the second event also held in conjunction with the South Australian series. Categories stretched from Mini Wheelers and Sprockets right through to Junior Superclass, Masters and Superclass. Behind the racing is a strong volunteer community, with members and families helping with everything from track preparation and working bees to gate operation, officiating, first aid, scoring and the canteen. It's this involvement that keeps the club running and gives Mildura Storm its strong community feel. Whether you're looking to introduce the kids to BMX, try racing for yourself, get some regular track time or progress into state-level competition, Mildura BMX Club is a great place to connect with the BMX community in Mildura and the wider Sunraysia region.
