About this club

Moranbah BMX Club is a volunteer, family-focused BMX racing club in the Central Queensland mining town of Moranbah, about two hours from Mackay. The track is on Mills Avenue. The club offers BMX racing for all ages, male and female, from Mini Wheelers through to seniors. Weekly activity includes Tuesday training and Thursday race nights, with registration from 5:30pm and racing from 6:15pm in a 3-motos, break, 3-motos format. Occasional Saturday and Sunday meets are also held. Gender equity applies — it is a sport the whole family can do. The club has a long local history. The Weekend of Madness carnival has been running since the club was established in 1985, and in 2026 Moranbah hosted that carnival under the Mackay North Queensland Games, including the Ethan Stevens Memorial Cup. AusCycling’s 2026 Clubs in Focus noted a renewed committee, a return of club coaching, and a welcoming family environment. The club is run entirely by volunteers, many of them parents. Coaching, come-and-try sessions and themed race nights are part of how new riders find the track. Membership and race licences are through AusCycling. Whether you live in Moranbah or are travelling for a carnival, Moranbah BMX Club is the local home of BMX in the Isaac region.
