Mornington Cycling Club

Mornington Cycling Club (MCC) is a friendly road cycling club based on Victoria’s Mornington Peninsula, bringing together recreational riders, social cyclists and competitive racers from across the region. Catering for a wide range of ages and abilities, the club provides opportunities to enjoy group riding, develop cycling skills and experience road racing in one of Victoria’s most popular cycling destinations. Road cycling is at the heart of the club, with MCC offering both graded and handicap racing. The different formats allow riders of varying strengths and experience levels to compete, from cyclists discovering racing for the first time through to experienced competitors looking for fast and tactical competition. Criterium racing is a particularly strong part of the club’s program, with the dedicated circuit at Dromana providing a traffic-free environment for fast, short-format racing. Graded fields help riders find an appropriate level of competition while still providing opportunities to progress as their fitness, confidence and race craft improve. The club also embraces the traditional handicap road-racing format, where riders of different abilities start at different intervals with the aim of bringing the field together towards the finish. This provides another style of racing alongside criteriums and gives riders across the grades an opportunity to compete against one another. Importantly, you don’t need to race to be part of Mornington Cycling Club. Social riding is a significant part of the club community, with regular group rides exploring the roads and climbs of the Mornington Peninsula. The club also connects with other cycling clubs and riders from the surrounding region for recreational riding and competition. The Peninsula provides an outstanding backdrop for these rides, with routes incorporating coastal roads, rolling terrain and challenging climbs around areas such as Mornington, Dromana and the surrounding hinterland. Different routes and riding groups provide opportunities for riders to build fitness, explore the area and enjoy the social side of cycling. MCC welcomes riders across different ages and racing categories, including Masters and younger riders, while its graded racing structure makes competition more approachable for cyclists who may not consider themselves elite racers. Mornington riders are also regularly represented beyond club competition at Victorian and National-level road events. Like most grassroots cycling clubs, Mornington is supported by its members and volunteers, who contribute to racing, social activities and the wider club community.
