Mount Gambier Mountain Bike Club

Mount Gambier Mountain Bike Club Inc. is an AusCycling-affiliated club based in Mount Gambier on South Australia’s Limestone Coast, supporting the region’s growing mountain bike community through trail advocacy, development, maintenance and events. The club has helped establish Mount Gambier as much more than a stopover, with a mix of cross-country, gravity enduro and downhill riding tucked into the distinctive volcanic landscape surrounding the city. One of the club’s key riding areas is the spectacular Crater Lakes precinct, where trails weave around the volcanic landscape near the Blue Lake, Valley Lake and Centenary Tower. The area includes recreational singletrack as well as more technical gravity terrain, with trails dropping through forest into the crater below. The club has been a strong advocate for maintaining and improving MTB access here, including better signage and facilities for both local and visiting riders. The club is also closely associated with the trails at Marist Park, which have been used for Gravity Enduro South Australia racing. Mount Gambier has developed a reputation for gravity competition too, regularly attracting riders from across South Australia and Victoria for enduro and downhill events. Beyond the trails themselves, the club has been involved in developing cycling infrastructure around Mount Gambier. Members helped drive the creation of the Mount Gambier Pump Track at Hastings Cunningham Reserve, which opened in 2019 as Australia's first Velosolutions Red Bull Pump Track and went on to host a Red Bull Pump Track World Championship qualifier. With Victoria only a short drive away, Mount Gambier occupies a pretty unique position in the Australian MTB scene. The club continues to advocate for better trails and facilities while supporting events that bring visiting riders into the Limestone Coast and showcase the potential of the region as a cycling destination.
