Mudgee Region MTB

Mudgee Region MTB (MRMTB) is a volunteer-run mountain bike club based in Mudgee in the Central West of NSW, bringing together riders from Mudgee and surrounding communities including Clandulla, Kandos, Rylstone and Gulgong. Rather than focusing on one particular style of riding, the club aims to connect all types of mountain bikers and grow the sport throughout a region with a surprisingly diverse collection of trails. At the heart of the local scene is Mudgee Common, right on the edge of town. The network offers around 32 kilometres of mapped trails across more than 40 trail sections, combining professionally machine-built riding with the rocky, natural terrain that was already popular with local riders. There’s a broad spread of difficulty, from approachable green trails through to technical black options, with plenty of flowing singletrack, punchy climbs, berms and rocky features in between. MRMTB plays an important role in looking after the Common, with the club formally recognised in Mid-Western Regional Council's management plan and assisting with track maintenance and management of the reserve. Protecting the environment is particularly important here, with the Common containing sensitive vegetation including the endangered Small Purple-pea (Swainsona recta), making responsible trail use and maintenance a key part of keeping mountain biking sustainable at the site. The club's riding footprint extends beyond Mudgee itself. Clandulla adds a very different flavour with its hand-built trails, while Mudgee Common provides the newer machine-built experience. MRMTB also supports racing and events, including hosting rounds of the Central West Inter-Club XC Series, giving riders another way to experience the local trails and connect with the wider Central West MTB community. Hit Mudgee Common straight from town, venture out to explore Clandulla, then make the most of Mudgee's cafés, food, wineries and accommodation once the bikes are packed away.
