Brunswick CC

Brunswick Cycling Club (Brunswick CC) is one of Melbourne's longest-running and most active cycling clubs, bringing together more than 400 riders across track, road, gravel and cyclocross. Based at the historic Brunswick Velodrome in Roberts Reserve, Brunswick East, the club welcomes everyone from riders taking their first steps into organised cycling through to state, national and world-level competitors. Founded in 1916 as the Northern Suburbs Amateur Cycling Club, Brunswick CC celebrated its 110th anniversary in 2026. The club moved to its current Harrison Street home in 1956, when the original velodrome was completed in time for the Melbourne Olympic Games. Today the outdoor velodrome remains at the heart of the club and sits alongside the Merri Creek bike path, making it a well-known part of Melbourne's inner-north cycling community. There's plenty happening throughout the week, including track training and racing, motorpace sessions, social rides and a busy multi-discipline racing calendar. While track cycling is a major part of the club's identity, members also get involved in road, gravel and cyclocross, with events ranging from traditional velodrome racing through to the club's Apple Crumble gravel racing and Dirty Deeds Cyclocross events. Brunswick has an especially impressive history of developing young riders. Its Junior Clinic has been running since 1948, helping children learn bike handling, track riding and racing skills in a fun and supportive environment. The program caters for riders roughly 4–15 years old who can confidently ride without training wheels, and the club has more than 100 loan bikes available, helping make trying track cycling much more accessible for families. New adult riders aren't forgotten either. Come & Try track sessions introduce newcomers to velodrome riding with accredited instructors, club track bikes available to borrow and no previous track experience required. The club also runs dedicated women's and gender-diverse opportunities alongside its broader social and competitive programs. For those with bigger racing ambitions, Brunswick has a proud competitive history and continues to produce riders competing at Victorian, national and international level, while still maintaining a strong community and grassroots focus.
