About this club
Neo Cycling Club is an inclusive Sydney cycling club with a particularly strong focus on junior development, road and track cycling, while welcoming riders of all ages and abilities. Originally formed in 2015 as Junior Cyclist before becoming Neo Cycling Club in 2020, the club was built around making cycling more accessible and helping riders develop the skills and confidence to enjoy the sport for fun, socially or competitively. Junior cycling is at the heart of Neo. The club describes itself as Australia’s largest juniors-focused cycling club and provides opportunities for young riders to progress from basic riding skills through structured training and club competition to State and National-level racing. Importantly, the emphasis isn’t only on developing elite athletes — Neo encourages children to experience the friendship, confidence, fitness and enjoyment that comes from being part of a cycling club. The club provides a particularly accessible introduction to cycling. Riders who are already comfortable riding independently can join beginner-friendly training and events, while one-on-one learn-to-ride coaching is available for children and adults who are still developing those fundamental skills. Riders can initially participate on ordinary bikes rather than needing specialist racing equipment, helping reduce some of the traditional barriers to entering the sport. Road cycling and racing form a major part of Neo's program. Riders can develop their bunch skills, fitness and race craft through structured coaching, club racing and group rides, with different ability groups allowing cyclists to progress at an appropriate pace. The club also supports riders wanting to participate in road tours and wider competition throughout NSW. Neo has an equally strong track cycling program centred around Lidcombe Oval Velodrome. The outdoor velodrome provides a traffic-free environment particularly suited to developing riders, with racing divided into junior and senior grades. Beginners of all ages are encouraged to experience track cycling, making it another accessible pathway into competitive riding. For riders interested in progressing further, Neo provides structured coaching from beginner through to advanced levels. Training incorporates cycling skills, fitness development and race practice, while more experienced riders can work towards higher-performance goals and competition beyond the club. Adults are very much part of the Neo community too. Parents, Masters riders and recreational cyclists can train, race or join group rides, reinforcing the club's philosophy that cycling can be enjoyed throughout life. Social group rides around Sydney Olympic Park and surrounding areas provide another way to participate without needing to focus on racing. Whether you're looking to help a child discover cycling, learn to ride, join your first group ride, try road or track racing, improve your skills or progress towards higher levels of competition, Neo Cycling Club provides a welcoming pathway into cycling and a club riders can continue to grow with.
