Northern Beaches Cycling Club

Northern Beaches Cycling Club (NBCC) is a diverse and community-focused cycling club based in the northern suburbs of Perth, Western Australia, bringing together riders across road, mountain biking, gravel, cyclocross and recreational cycling. Established in 2008, the club has grown from its charity-riding origins into a large cycling community focused on helping people become healthier, happier and more connected through riding. One of NBCC’s strengths is the sheer variety of ways riders can get involved. Whether you’re looking for a regular social bunch, want to explore local mountain bike trails, try your hand at racing or simply meet more people to ride with, the club embraces riders with different interests, abilities and ambitions. Road cycling is a major part of the club, with regular social and training rides alongside criterium and road racing opportunities. Riders can progress from recreational bunch riding into competitive cycling, while different groups and activities provide options for those more interested in fitness, friendship and exploring Perth’s northern suburbs. The club has a particularly strong connection with Splendid Park Criterium Circuit in Yanchep, a purpose-built 1.4km cycling circuit developed with significant involvement from NBCC. The traffic-free facility provides a dedicated environment for criterium racing, training, junior development and community cycling, and has become an important cycling facility for Perth’s growing northern corridor. Mountain biking is equally embedded in the club’s identity. NBCC has been a long-time advocate for better off-road cycling opportunities in Perth’s north and is involved in mountain bike riding, racing and trail development. Its advocacy has contributed to significant local riding infrastructure and helped create more opportunities for riders to enjoy MTB without travelling across the city. The club also embraces gravel and cyclocross, reflecting its philosophy that cycling doesn't have to fit neatly into a single discipline. NBCC riders participate in CX competition and the club supports the broader mix of off-road and adventure riding increasingly popular throughout Western Australia. Junior development is another important part of NBCC. Young riders have opportunities to develop their skills through structured training and competition, with pathways extending across road, MTB and other cycling disciplines. The club supports riders who simply want to build confidence as well as juniors with ambitions to progress into State and National-level competition. Beyond organised riding and racing, NBCC has played an important role in cycling advocacy and infrastructure development. Club volunteers have worked to improve cycling facilities and trail access throughout Perth’s northern suburbs, helping deliver lasting benefits not only for members but for the wider cycling community. At its heart, Northern Beaches Cycling Club is about community. Social riders, racers, juniors, families, volunteers and experienced cyclists all contribute to a club designed to make it easier for more people to get on bikes and find their place within cycling. Whether you're looking to join a road bunch, discover local MTB trails, try criterium or cyclocross racing, introduce a junior to cycling, explore gravel or simply find more people to ride with, Northern Beaches Cycling Club offers plenty of ways to become part of Perth’s northern cycling community.
