About this club

Northern Cycling is a Masters road-racing club for the north of Melbourne, offering a safe, social and competitive environment for adult riders. It was established in 1976 as the Northern Veterans Cycling Association to give cyclists racing opportunities outside the professional selection arena, and marked 40 years in 2016. Membership is open to men aged 35 and over and women aged 30 and over. Members range from 30 to 80, with a median around 50. Racing is almost always by ability rather than age, so riders compete in groups of similar performance. Formats include handicap, scratch and time trial on the road, plus regular Sunday criteriums. The club’s regular crit venue is National Boulevard at Campbellfield (the Link Drive circuit), with café facilities nearby. The 2026 EntryBoss calendar runs graded scratch criteriums through the year, plus championships and handicaps on country courses such as Glenaroua / Broadford. Racing is for Masters men and women who hold current AusCycling membership. Many members came to racing from recreational riding, running or triathlon. Northern is affiliated with AusCycling. General meetings are usually held after a National Boulevard criterium. Northern Cycling is volunteer-run. If you want Masters racing on Melbourne’s north side, this is the club.
