Orange Cycle Club

Orange Cycle Club (OCC) is a long-established cycling club based in Orange in Central West NSW, providing opportunities for riders across road and track cycling, with a strong tradition of racing, junior development and community participation. Track cycling is an important part of the club’s identity, with racing centred around the Orange Velodrome. The club helps deliver track competition for juniors through to Elite and Masters riders, providing opportunities to experience the speed, tactics and variety of velodrome racing in a supportive regional cycling community. Orange Cycle Club is also strongly involved in road cycling and racing. Its activities include road races, criteriums and individual time trials, giving riders opportunities to experience everything from racing against the clock to fast bunch competition and longer road events through the countryside surrounding Orange. One of the club’s major contributions to cycling in the region is the Tour of Orange, a multi-stage road event incorporating different styles of racing. The event reflects the club’s ability to deliver significant competition while showcasing Orange and the surrounding Central West as a cycling destination. The development of the Gosling Creek Criterium Circuit has added another important facility to the local cycling landscape. The purpose-built circuit provides a dedicated environment for criterium racing and creates further opportunities for riders to develop their bunch-riding skills and race craft away from normal road traffic. Junior cycling and rider development are also important parts of Orange Cycle Club. The club supports junior events and cycling-skills development, helping younger riders build confidence and progress towards competition. Juniors have opportunities across both road and track, providing a pathway from grassroots participation into wider regional, State and National competition. The club caters for adult riders too, from developing cyclists through to experienced Elite and Masters competitors. Different racing formats and ability levels provide opportunities for riders to challenge themselves while remaining connected with the wider cycling community of Orange and Central West NSW. Orange itself provides an outstanding setting for cycling, with rolling country roads, challenging climbs and quiet rural routes surrounding the city. This varied terrain complements the club’s dedicated track and criterium facilities and gives local cyclists plenty of options for training and recreational riding.
