About this club
Peel District Cycling Club (PDCC) is a welcoming road cycling club serving the Peel region south of Perth, Western Australia, bringing together junior riders, adults and Masters cyclists through road racing, criteriums, training and the wider cycling community. Road racing is at the heart of the club, with PDCC delivering racing across a variety of courses throughout the Peel region. Different grades allow riders of varying strengths and experience levels to compete alongside cyclists of similar ability, creating opportunities for newcomers to discover racing while providing challenging competition for experienced riders. The club embraces several traditional forms of road competition, including graded scratch racing, handicap racing, criteriums and individual time trials. This variety gives riders the opportunity to develop endurance, bunch skills, tactics and race craft while experiencing different styles of competitive cycling. Criterium racing is an important part of the club's program, providing shorter and faster circuit-style competition alongside its longer road events. Together, criterium and open-road racing give members a varied pathway through the sport rather than limiting the club to one style of competition. PDCC has a particularly strong commitment to junior cycling and rider development. Younger riders are supported through age-appropriate racing, grading and development opportunities, helping them build confidence and cycling skills before progressing into faster competition. The club has developed riders who have gone on to represent Western Australia and compete at National level. The strength of that pathway is reflected in the club's involvement in significant junior and championship-level road events. PDCC has extensive experience delivering major road competition in Western Australia, providing opportunities for developing riders while bringing cyclists from outside the region to race in Peel. Adults and Masters riders are equally important parts of the club community. The graded racing structure means cyclists don't necessarily need to be elite racers to participate, with different levels providing opportunities for riders to challenge themselves and progress according to their experience and ability. Away from racing, social and training riding provides another way to connect with the club and the wider Peel cycling community. Riders can build fitness, gain bunch-riding experience and meet other local cyclists without competition needing to be their sole reason for joining. Like many grassroots cycling clubs, Peel District is powered by members, families, officials and volunteers. Delivering road racing requires everything from course setup and marshalling to traffic management and race officiating, making volunteer involvement an important part of the club community. Whether you're looking to introduce a junior to cycling, try your first road race, experience criterium or handicap racing, develop your bunch-riding skills or progress towards higher levels of competition, Peel District Cycling Club provides a welcoming pathway into road cycling in Western Australia's Peel region.
