About this club
Penrith BMX Club is a long-established BMX racing club based at Blair Oval in St Marys, Western Sydney, providing a fun, supportive and competitive environment for riders of all ages and abilities. With a strong family atmosphere and decades of involvement in the sport, the club offers a pathway from a child's first experience on a BMX track through to State, National and higher-level competition. BMX racing is at the heart of the club, with riders developing the combination of speed, bike handling, confidence and race craft needed to tackle the jumps, berms and technical features of a BMX race track. Riders are grouped according to age and ability, helping create close competition while allowing newcomers to develop at an appropriate pace. For the youngest riders, Mini Wheelers provide an introduction to the BMX environment on balance bikes before children progress onto pedal bikes and through the junior BMX categories. From there, riders can continue through age-group racing, Challenge categories and eventually higher-performance competition if that's where their ambitions take them. Penrith has a strong focus on being family and beginner friendly. BMX is one of the few cycling disciplines where children, teenagers, parents and adult riders can all participate within the same club environment, and Penrith encourages riders with different levels of experience to become involved. The club's home at Blair Oval / South Creek Park in St Marys features a dedicated BMX race track, clubhouse and supporting facilities. The track provides the technical features required for riders to develop their jumping, cornering, gate-start and racing skills while giving the club a permanent home for training and competition. Penrith's track is capable of hosting competition well beyond regular club racing. The club hosts rounds of the AusCycling BMX Racing State Series and other significant BMX events, bringing riders from across NSW and the ACT to Western Sydney and providing local members with opportunities to experience higher-level racing on their home track. Rider development is an important part of the Penrith pathway. Members have progressed from grassroots club racing into State, National and development programs, demonstrating the opportunities available for young riders who want to take their BMX further. The club also has a proud connection with Australian BMX history. Olympian and multiple-time Australian champion Luke Madill began racing at Penrith BMX Club as a young child before progressing to the highest levels of the sport, providing a great example of where a local BMX club pathway can lead. Behind the racing is a strong community of riders, families, officials and volunteers who contribute to race meetings, track preparation and the day-to-day operation of the club. This volunteer involvement helps maintain the friendly grassroots atmosphere that has been central to Penrith BMX for generations. Whether you're looking to introduce a young child to BMX, try racing for the first time, develop your skills and gate starts, compete at a higher level or find a family-friendly cycling community, Penrith BMX Club provides a welcoming home for BMX racing in Western Sydney.
