About this club

Port Adelaide Cycling Club (PACC) is one of Australia's longest-established cycling clubs, serving the Adelaide cycling community since 1885. With a proud history spanning generations of riders, the club today combines road, track and cyclocross racing with training, skills development and social riding in a welcoming environment for cyclists of different ages and abilities. Road cycling remains an important part of the club, with members participating in road races, criteriums and individual time trials. Different racing formats provide opportunities for developing riders to learn race craft while giving experienced competitors plenty of opportunity to challenge themselves. PACC also has a strong track cycling identity, with Hanson Reserve Velodrome at Woodville Gardens serving as an important club training base. Track sessions cater for developing through to experienced riders, with coaching and loan bikes helping make the discipline more accessible to people wanting to experience velodrome riding for the first time. Motor-paced training adds another dimension, with both road and track cyclists able to use the velodrome in separate groups. Cyclocross is another genuine part of the Port Adelaide identity. The club has played an important role in developing CX in South Australia, delivering racing and skills sessions that introduce riders to the fast, technical and often muddy world of cyclocross. This gives PACC a particularly broad offering compared with many traditional road and track clubs. For riders who aren't primarily interested in competition, the club also supports social and recreational cycling. Group rides provide opportunities to ride with others, develop bunch-riding skills and become part of the club community without racing needing to be the focus. PACC places a strong emphasis on development and accessibility. Beginners are encouraged to learn from experienced members, while coaching and skills opportunities provide a pathway for riders wanting to progress. Juniors, women, Masters riders and experienced competitors are all represented within the wider club community. The strength of the club's development pathway is reflected in an extraordinary cycling history. Port Adelaide has been home to numerous Australian and international champions, including Anna Meares, Stuart O'Grady and Mike Turtur, alongside generations of World Championship, National Championship and Olympic representatives. Despite that high-performance heritage, the club's philosophy remains firmly grassroots. PACC is a volunteer-driven organisation, with members contributing to racing, training, officiating, events and the social life of the club. Whether you're looking to try your first cycling race, introduce a junior to the sport, experience track cycling, tackle a cyclocross course, test yourself against the clock, join a social ride or progress towards higher levels of competition, Port Adelaide Cycling Club provides one of South Australia's most diverse and historic cycling communities.
