About this club

Preston Cycling Club (PCC) is a long-established cycling club based in Reservoir in Melbourne's northern suburbs, bringing together juniors, adults and Masters riders through track cycling, road riding, racing, coaching and social cycling. With more than a century of cycling history behind it, Preston has developed a strong reputation as a welcoming club where riders can become involved whether they are discovering cycling for the first time, looking for a social group to ride with or wanting to develop towards higher levels of competition. Track cycling is a major part of the Preston identity. The club's home is the outdoor velodrome at T.W. Andrews Reserve in Reservoir, where riders can learn the fundamentals of track cycling and develop their skills in a supportive club environment. Coaching caters for different levels of experience, from children learning to ride a track bike through to experienced riders developing their racing skills. For those new to the discipline, Preston provides a particularly accessible introduction to velodrome riding. Beginner sessions allow younger riders to learn the basics before progressing into more advanced training, while adults who are new to track cycling can also develop their confidence and skills with experienced riders and coaches. The club's track pathway extends beyond its outdoor home, with Preston riders also making use of the Darebin International Sports Centre (DISC) and its indoor velodrome for training and higher-level track cycling. This provides riders with a pathway from grassroots outdoor track riding through to competition on the boards. Road cycling is the club's other major discipline, with members participating in road and criterium competition as well as recreational and training rides. Regular social bunch riding gives cyclists another way to become involved, with an emphasis on riding together, regrouping and enjoying the social side of the sport. Preston has a particularly strong tradition of supporting junior and Masters cycling. Younger riders can develop bike-handling and track-racing skills under the guidance of experienced coaches, while adults and Masters riders continue to train and compete across road and track disciplines. Coaching and rider development are central to the club environment. Accredited coaches help riders improve their fitness, skills, tactics and confidence, whether their goal is simply to become a better cyclist or to progress into State, National and higher levels of competition. Despite its competitive heritage, Preston isn't only for racers. The club welcomes both competitive and recreational members, creating opportunities for riders to enjoy cycling, improve their fitness and become part of a friendly local cycling community. Whether you're looking to introduce a junior to cycling, learn to ride a track bike, experience velodrome racing, join a social road ride or develop towards higher levels of road and track competition, Preston Cycling Club provides a welcoming home for cycling in Melbourne's northern suburbs.
