About this club
Redlands BMX Club is a long-established, family-oriented BMX racing club based in Capalaba on Brisbane's bayside, welcoming riders from those discovering BMX for the first time through to experienced racers competing at state, national and international level. The club has been part of the Redlands cycling community since 1979. It began with a group of local kids looking for somewhere to ride, with an original track located behind the former Rollercade complex in Cleveland. Redlands moved to its current Capalaba home in 1982, where it has continued to build a strong BMX racing community for more than four decades. Today the club rides at its dedicated BMX facility on the corner of Degen and Mount Cotton Roads in Capalaba, behind the Redlands PCYC. The championship-level track provides riders with a purpose-built environment for developing everything from gate starts and bike handling through to jumping, cornering and race craft. There's plenty of opportunity to get involved in racing, with regular Wednesday night club competition providing riders with consistent time behind the gate. Redlands caters for the broad range of ages and categories that make BMX such a great family sport, allowing young riders to progress through the ranks while adults can get involved themselves rather than simply watching from the sidelines. For riders who want to take their racing further, Redlands has a proud competitive history. Club members have represented the region at Queensland State Championships, National Championships and UCI BMX World Championships, with the club producing some outstanding riders over its long history. Redlands life member Tracey Kosikowski was one of Australia's pioneering international BMX racers, becoming an IBMXF World Champion in 1983 and later being inducted into the Australian BMX Hall of Fame. The club remains part of the wider South East Queensland BMX community, giving riders opportunities to progress from local racing into interclub, state and higher-level competition. Behind the racing is a strong volunteer community, with members, families and officials helping keep the track, race meetings and club activities running. That combination of grassroots participation and a long competitive history has kept Redlands BMX rolling since the earliest days of the sport in Australia. Whether you're looking to get the kids started in BMX, have a go at racing yourself, improve your skills or work towards bigger competitive goals, Redlands BMX Club is a great place to connect with the BMX community on the Redlands Coast.
