About this club
Rockingham BMX Club is a long-established, family-friendly BMX racing club based in East Rockingham, south of Perth, Western Australia. Established in 1979, the club has been part of the local sporting community for more than four decades, providing a place for riders of all ages to discover BMX, develop their skills and get behind the gate. The club's home is its dedicated BMX racing facility at 1521 Ennis Avenue, East Rockingham, accessed via the same entrance as the Rockingham Golf Driving Range. The purpose-built track provides riders with the jumps, rollers, berms and fast straights that make BMX such an exciting combination of speed, skill and race craft. Rockingham caters for a huge range of riders, beginning with Mini Wheelers on balance bikes for children aged 2–4, before progressing through Sprocket and age-based Challenge categories and right through to Pro Open racing. There's even a dedicated Dad's Cruiser class, reinforcing the club's message that you're never too old to give BMX racing a go. Regular club racing takes place on Thursday evenings, while gate practice and training provide additional opportunities for riders to develop their starts, bike handling and confidence. New riders are encouraged to come along, meet the club's volunteer committee and watch the action before deciding how involved they'd like to become. For riders who catch the racing bug, there's a pathway well beyond local competition. Rockingham riders can progress into WA Super Series and Open Day events, followed by State and National Championships and potentially international BMX competition. The club has a history of riders travelling and competing at higher levels of the sport while maintaining a strong grassroots racing community at home. Rockingham's Ennis Avenue facility is also set to benefit from further investment. The WA Government committed $110,000 towards track upgrades, with work intended to improve the quality and safety of the facility and support the club's ability to host larger competitions. Like most community BMX clubs, Rockingham is powered by its members, families and volunteers, who contribute to everything from racing and officiating to track maintenance and club activities. Whether you're looking to get a little rider started on a balance bike, try BMX racing yourself, develop your skills or progress towards state and national competition, Rockingham BMX Club is a great place to connect with the BMX community south of Perth.
