About this club

Seymour Broadford Cycling Club (SBCC) is a friendly grassroots cycling club based around Seymour and Broadford in central Victoria, bringing together riders through road racing, training and a strong community-focused cycling culture. Road cycling is at the heart of the club, with racing taking place across a variety of courses around Seymour, Avenel and the surrounding rural districts. Quiet country roads, rolling farmland, flatter open sections and more challenging hills provide plenty of variety and allow the club to deliver a traditional style of regional road racing. Handicap racing is a particularly important part of the Seymour Broadford identity. Rather than separating every rider purely by age or grade, handicapping gives cyclists of different abilities staggered starts and the opportunity to compete together for the overall finish. Accurate handicapping rewards teamwork, tactics and determination while creating exciting racing for newcomers and experienced competitors alike. The club uses a number of established road courses throughout the region, ranging from fast and relatively flat out-and-back routes to hillier circuits. This variety gives riders opportunities to develop endurance, bunch-riding skills, climbing ability, race tactics and confidence across different terrain. Seymour Broadford has developed a reputation for being an approachable club for riders discovering road racing. New and trial riders are welcomed, while experienced members help newer cyclists learn the skills, etiquette and tactics involved in bunch racing. The club's supportive environment allows riders to progress at their own pace while becoming part of the local cycling community. Junior development is also an important part of the club's story. Young Seymour Broadford riders have progressed from local club racing into Victorian and National-level competition, demonstrating the pathway that a smaller regional cycling club can provide. Experienced riders and volunteers play an important role in helping younger cyclists develop their skills, confidence and understanding of racing. Adults and Masters riders form another significant part of the club community, with members continuing to compete locally and representing Seymour Broadford at major Victorian and Australian road events. The club's strength comes from its grassroots character. Volunteers and experienced members help organise racing, manage courses, handicap riders and support newcomers, allowing cycling competition to continue across the region without needing a large permanent sporting facility. Seymour Broadford riders also participate more broadly across Australian cycling, but the club remains firmly grounded in its local community — providing accessible racing and encouraging people to discover how much they can improve simply by getting involved and riding with others. Whether you're looking to try road racing for the first time, experience traditional handicap racing, develop your bunch-riding skills, introduce a junior to competitive cycling or find a friendly regional cycling community, Seymour Broadford Cycling Club provides a we
