About this club

Southern Highlands Cycling Club (SHCC) is a welcoming cycling club based around Bowral and the Southern Highlands of NSW, bringing together recreational riders and racers through road cycling, track cycling, social rides and competitive events. Surrounded by some of the most scenic riding country in NSW, the club makes the most of the Southern Highlands' quiet rural roads, rolling farmland and challenging climbs. Riders come from a broad range of ages and abilities, from people discovering club cycling through to experienced competitors. Road cycling is at the heart of the club, with racing taking place across a variety of established courses throughout the Southern Highlands. Locations around Berrima, Bundanoon, Canyonleigh, Medway and the surrounding countryside provide a mix of terrain and allow riders to experience traditional regional road racing away from busy metropolitan circuits. Club competition incorporates different road-racing formats, including handicap racing and individual time trials, giving riders opportunities to develop their fitness, bunch skills, tactics and race craft. SHCC also participates in interclub competition, connecting Southern Highlands riders with neighbouring clubs and the wider NSW racing community. For those who prefer riding without a race number, social and recreational cycling is another important part of club life. Group rides provide opportunities to explore the region, meet other local cyclists and build fitness and confidence without competition needing to be the main reason for joining. Track cycling is another genuine part of the Southern Highlands Cycling Club identity. The club is closely associated with Eridge Park Velodrome near Bowral, providing a local environment for riders to experience velodrome cycling and develop the skills, speed and tactics involved in track racing. The club welcomes riders across different levels of experience and provides a pathway for cyclists who want to progress from grassroots participation into more serious competition. Southern Highlands riders have represented the club at State, National and international levels while retaining their connection to the local cycling community. Junior and developing riders are part of that pathway, with opportunities to learn from experienced cyclists, build their confidence and gain experience in organised cycling and racing. The club's strength also lies in the variety of riders it brings together. Recreational cyclists, juniors, experienced racers and Masters riders can all share the same community, whether their goal is improving fitness, enjoying a social ride or testing themselves in competition. Like most regional cycling organisations, SHCC is supported by a dedicated community of riders, officials, families and volunteers who help deliver racing, rides and club activities across the Southern Highlands. Whether you're looking to explore the Southern Highlands with other riders, try road racing, test yourself in a time trial, experience track cycling or progress towards higher levels of competition, Southern Highlands Cycling Club provides a welcoming connection to cycling in one of NSW's most spectacular riding regions.
