Sunshine Coast Cycling Club

Sunshine Coast Cycling Club (SCCC) is a welcoming road cycling club bringing together riders from across Queensland's Sunshine Coast, with opportunities for juniors, adults and Masters riders to develop their skills, experience racing and become part of the region's cycling community. Road cycling and racing are at the heart of the club. SCCC provides a varied program of road races, criteriums, time trials and hill climbs, making use of the Sunshine Coast's combination of purpose-built circuits, quieter hinterland roads and challenging terrain. One of the club's strengths is the variety of racing available. Graded racing allows riders to compete against cyclists of similar ability, while handicap events create a different tactical challenge and give riders across multiple levels the opportunity to race together. Individual time trials provide the chance to race against the clock, while criteriums deliver fast, tactical bunch racing on shorter circuits. The club welcomes cyclists who are new to racing as well as experienced competitors. Riders interested in giving racing a try can access introductory opportunities before committing to regular competition, helping make the transition from recreational road riding to a first start line less intimidating. Junior development is an important part of the SCCC community. Coaching and development opportunities help younger cyclists build bike-handling skills, confidence, fitness and race craft, with pathways available for juniors who want to progress into higher levels of road competition. The club also actively supports women's cycling, creating opportunities for women to develop their bike-handling and racing skills and encouraging greater participation in competitive cycling. Women's racing forms an important part of the club's wider event program, providing pathways for riders across different levels of experience. SCCC's racing takes riders across the Sunshine Coast, from criterium circuits to hinterland road courses and hill climbs. This variety provides an opportunity to experience very different forms of road cycling while discovering some of the region's best riding country. For riders who want to progress further, the club provides a pathway into State and National-level competition, while continuing to offer grassroots racing where participation, enjoyment and community remain just as important. Like most successful cycling clubs, SCCC relies on a strong network of riders, coaches, commissaires and volunteers to deliver its activities. This community involvement helps create an environment where experienced riders can share their knowledge and newer cyclists can become more confident both on the bike and within the racing community.
