About this club
Tamworth City BMX Club is a family-oriented BMX racing club based in North Tamworth in the New England region of NSW, welcoming riders of different ages and abilities to discover BMX, develop their skills and get involved in racing. The club calls the Tamworth BMX Track on Marius Street home, with Tamworth Regional Council confirming the facility is managed by the club. The purpose-built venue includes lighting, toilets, changerooms, a canteen, parking and spectator facilities, providing a great base for both regular club activities and larger BMX events. The track itself has undergone a major transformation in recent years. After being closed in 2020 when asbestos-containing material was discovered within old imported fill, the site underwent extensive remediation and was rebuilt with an all-weather, high-performance competition surface designed to state and national competition standards. A separate pump track was also constructed alongside the main race track, providing another space for riders of different skill levels to practise and develop their bike handling. Tamworth City BMX has a strong grassroots focus, describing itself as a small, family-oriented club with a growing membership and talent pool. New and developing riders can learn the fundamentals of BMX in a supportive club environment before progressing into regular racing and, if they choose, higher levels of competition. For riders with bigger racing ambitions, Tamworth has demonstrated an impressive pathway. Club members regularly compete at NSW, national and international level, with Tamworth riders achieving top results in both state and Australian competition. That pathway was particularly evident in 2026, when club riders Jack Davis, Lachlan Wallis and Hayne Dawson represented Australia at the UCI BMX Racing World Championships in Brisbane. Jack Davis has also established himself as one of Australia's leading BMX racers, having previously won the AusCycling National Series Superclass title. The upgraded Marius Street facility gives the club plenty of potential to continue growing BMX locally while also attracting larger competitions to the Tamworth region. Combined with the adjacent pump track, it provides opportunities for both established racers and the next generation of local riders. Whether you're looking to introduce the kids to BMX, give racing a go yourself, develop your skills or chase state, national and international racing goals, Tamworth City BMX Club is a great place to connect with the BMX community in the New England region.
