About this club
University of Queensland Cycling Club (UQCC) is a welcoming and performance-minded cycling club based in Brisbane, Queensland, bringing together social riders, developing cyclists and experienced racers through road riding, training and competition. Established in 1983, UQCC has developed a strong reputation within Queensland cycling while maintaining a community that caters for riders with different goals — from improving fitness and finding people to ride with through to competing at State, National and international level. Road cycling is at the heart of the club. Regular social and training rides provide opportunities for members to build fitness, improve their bunch-riding skills and explore Brisbane and the surrounding region with other cyclists. For riders interested in competition, UQCC has a particularly strong road-racing program. Graded racing allows cyclists to compete against riders of similar ability, providing a pathway for people discovering racing while still offering challenging competition for experienced racers. Criterium racing is a major part of the club's competitive identity, with UQCC having a long association with racing at Brisbane's dedicated criterium circuits. The club also embraces traditional road racing and time trials, giving riders opportunities to experience very different forms of competitive road cycling. Beyond the bitumen, UQCC has also incorporated gravel into its racing program, combining sealed and unsealed roads to create challenging mixed-surface competition and giving riders another way to test their skills away from traditional road racing. Track cycling forms another genuine part of the club's history and cycling community. UQCC riders participate across a range of velodrome disciplines, providing another pathway for members interested in developing their speed, tactics and bike-handling skills. Women's participation is an important part of the club's identity through Ladies of UQCC, which creates a supportive environment for women across a broad range of abilities. Social rides and structured training help riders develop their skills and confidence, while those interested in competition can progress into the club's wider racing community. UQCC also has a proud development and high-performance heritage. Over its history, members have progressed to State, National, Commonwealth and Olympic-level competition, demonstrating the opportunities available for riders who want to take their cycling further. Despite its competitive credentials, riders don't need to be racers to become part of the UQCC community. Social riding, training, friendship and the post-ride coffee remain an important part of club life alongside racing and performance. Whether you're looking to find a regular Brisbane bunch ride, improve your cycling, try criterium or road racing, discover gravel competition, experience track cycling or pursue higher-performance goals, University of Queensland Cycling Club provides a strong and supportive cycling community in Brisbane.
