About this club
Warragul Cycling Club (WCC) is a community cycling club based in Warragul in West Gippsland, Victoria, bringing together young riders, recreational cyclists and experienced racers through road cycling, track racing and rider development. Road cycling is at the heart of the club, with Warragul and the surrounding Gippsland countryside providing an ideal setting for traditional Australian road racing. The club has a strong culture of racing on quieter country roads, with graded and handicap formats giving riders of different abilities opportunities to compete together. For established cyclists interested in discovering racing, the club provides an approachable grassroots environment in which to build experience, learn race craft and progress into competition. More experienced riders can test themselves against strong regional fields and participate in the wider Victorian road-racing scene. Track cycling is another important part of Warragul Cycling Club's identity. Track racing complements the club's road program and gives riders an opportunity to develop speed, bike handling, tactics and confidence in a controlled environment. The club also has a strong commitment to developing the next generation of cyclists. Through junior development and learn-to-ride programs, children can begin by mastering fundamental bike skills before progressing towards more advanced riding and, for those interested, organised cycling and racing. These programs provide a welcoming entry point for families whose children may be completely new to cycling, including riders still developing basic starting, stopping and bike-control skills. As confidence grows, young riders can progress through more advanced handling and cycling skills, creating a pathway into a lifetime of riding rather than focusing solely on competition. Warragul Cycling Club has a proud connection with the wider Gippsland cycling community and has played a role in delivering some of the region's best-known road-racing challenges. Its location places riders within easy reach of rolling rural roads, significant climbs and some of Victoria's most spectacular cycling country. While road and track remain the club's core organised disciplines, its membership also includes riders who compete successfully across other forms of cycling, reflecting the increasingly diverse interests of the local riding community. Like many regional cycling clubs, Warragul is supported by a network of riders, coaches, officials, families and volunteers who help deliver racing, development programs and club activities. Whether you're looking to help a child learn to ride, develop cycling skills, experience track cycling, try road racing or become part of the Gippsland cycling community, Warragul Cycling Club provides a welcoming pathway into the sport.
