Warrnambool BMX Club

Warrnambool BMX Club is a long-established, family-friendly BMX racing club based in Warrnambool on Victoria's spectacular south-west coast. Established in 1981, the club has been part of the local cycling community for more than four decades and welcomes everyone from two-year-old Mini Wheelers through to adult riders well into their 50s. Originally based at Queens Road, the club relocated to its current home at Jetty Flat Reserve in 2012. Today riders have access to an approximately 400-metre purpose-built BMX race track, featuring plenty of hills and jumps along with three bitumen berms that create a fast and exciting course for developing and experienced racers alike. The track has continued to evolve since the move. Its berms were sealed with bitumen in 2014, followed by a major all-weather surface upgrade that added a hard-wearing polymer treatment and concrete to selected sections. The result is a smoother, higher-grip riding surface that's more resilient in wet weather and requires less maintenance, giving riders more opportunities to get out on the track. There's a strong pathway for newcomers to BMX. Warrnambool participates in the AusCycling four-week free trial, allowing new riders to experience the sport before committing to membership. The club also has some BMX bikes, full-face helmets and gloves available to borrow, helping remove some of the upfront cost for families wanting to give racing a go. Regular training, gate sessions and club racing give riders opportunities to build their skills and confidence, while Mini Wheelers and developing riders have dedicated opportunities to learn before progressing onto the full racing pathway. For riders keen to take competition further, Warrnambool is firmly established on the Victorian BMX racing calendar and attracts competitors from well beyond the local region. In February 2026 the club hosted Round 1 of the AusCycling BMX Racing State Series – Victoria, with racing from Mini Wheelers and Sprockets through to Challenge, Cruiser, Junior Superclass, Masters and Superclass categories. Like all great BMX clubs, Warrnambool is about more than results. The club describes BMX as a family sport, with kids, parents and adult riders all able to participate and a strong volunteer community helping keep training, racing and events running.
