About this club
West Coast Masters Cycling Council (WCMCC) is a Masters cycling community based in Perth, Western Australia, providing regular road and criterium racing for cyclists aged 30 and over. The organisation has deep roots in Western Australian veteran cycling. Its history stretches back through several predecessor organisations, including the West Coast Veterans Bicycle Club and the West Australian Veterans Cycling Association, helping build a long tradition of competitive cycling for mature riders in WA. Road racing is at the heart of West Coast Masters. Racing takes place across a variety of courses around the Perth metropolitan area and surrounding regions, giving members opportunities to experience traditional road racing alongside fast, tactical criterium competition. One of the strengths of WCMCC is its ability-based grading system. Rather than regular racing being divided simply by age or gender, riders are placed into grades according to their racing ability. This helps create competitive fields where riders can race against others of similar capability, whether they're experienced competitors or established cyclists taking their first steps into Masters racing. Men and women race together within these ability-based grades, creating an inclusive Masters racing environment centred around fair and enjoyable competition. Age divisions remain important for championship competition, allowing riders to compete for recognition against others within their Masters age category. For cyclists curious about racing, West Coast Masters provides an approachable pathway into competition. Experienced cyclists can experience Masters racing without immediately committing to membership, while regular participants can become part of a supportive racing community built around competition, fitness and friendship. The organisation is affiliated with the Australian Veteran Cycling Council (AVCC), forming part of the wider Australian Masters cycling community and providing members with opportunities extending beyond local club competition. Although racing is the major focus, the social and community side of cycling remains an important part of WCMCC. Riders compete hard on the road while developing friendships with people who share an enthusiasm for remaining active and competitive throughout their cycling lives. Like most grassroots cycling organisations, its racing relies heavily on volunteers, officials and members who contribute to course setup, traffic management, event administration and the safe running of competition. Whether you're an experienced Masters racer, returning to competition after time away or an established cyclist interested in trying racing for the first time, West Coast Masters Cycling Council provides a welcoming and competitive Masters road-racing community in Western Australia.
