About this club
Western Sydney BMX Club (WSBMX) is a family-friendly BMX racing club based at Wylde MTB & BMX in Western Sydney, providing a welcoming place for riders of all ages and abilities to discover, practise and compete in BMX racing. From young riders getting their first taste of the sport through to experienced racers chasing State and National competition, the club provides a strong connection into the Western Sydney BMX community. The club grew from the foundations of the former Liverpool BMX Club, carrying forward the experience and community behind that organisation while establishing a new identity and home in Western Sydney. WSBMX is affiliated with AusCycling and operates from the dedicated BMX racing facility at Wylde on Range Road, Cecil Park/Cecil Hills. The Wylde BMX track was constructed by Western Sydney Parklands and designed as a high-quality, family-friendly facility catering for different ages and riding abilities. The wider Wylde precinct also includes a large pump track alongside the MTB trail network, making it a significant cycling destination in its own right rather than simply a club race venue. BMX racing is at the heart of the club, with regular gate practice, club racing and larger race meetings giving riders opportunities to build their confidence and develop their skills before progressing into higher levels of competition. Practice sessions provide a more relaxed environment for riders to work on starts, sprinting and track technique while getting to know the club community. WSBMX makes a particular effort to make getting started in BMX straightforward. New riders are encouraged to come along, meet the committee and learn how the sport works rather than feeling they need specialist knowledge or equipment before getting involved. The club's beginner information even points out that riders don't necessarily need a dedicated race bike immediately—the club can help newcomers understand what they need as they progress. The club caters for the broad age range that makes BMX such an accessible family sport, with opportunities for younger riders through to teenagers and adults. Riders can develop from their first laps and gate starts into competitive BMX racing, with WSBMX members going on to represent the club at State, National and international competition. Importantly, the track isn't exclusively reserved for club members. Greater Sydney Parklands identifies Wylde BMX as a public riding destination, with the BMX racetrack available outside periods reserved for Western Sydney BMX Club activities. This gives riders an opportunity to become familiar with the facility recreationally as well as through organised club sessions. Like most BMX clubs, WSBMX has a strong social and volunteer element. Practice and race sessions aren't simply about competition—they provide a regular meeting point for riders, parents, volunteers and supporters and help create a pathway for families wanting to become involved in the sport together. Whether you're looking to introduce a child to BMX, learn how to use a start gate, improve your riding skills, experience your first race or progress into higher-level BMX competition, Western Sydney BMX Club provides an accessible and welcoming home for BMX racing in Western Sydney.
