Crafers Bikeway
About this ride
The Crafers Bikeway is a dedicated bike path up the South Eastern Freeway corridor, from the Old Tollgate at Glen Osmond to Crafers in the Adelaide Hills. The Tour Down Under's Adelaide Bike Atlas lists it at 9.95 km of almost continuous climbing, with gradients over 11% and a long drag into Crafers. The only traffic is at the start, where you join the bikeway from the freeway; after that you're separated from cars, so it's the safest way up into the hills. It's sealed, and it suits road and mountain bikes. The Crafers Hotel is right at the top, and Mount Lofty Summit is a short climb further on.
