Victory Heights Recreational Trails
About this ride
Victory Heights Recreational Trails, just minutes from the centre of Gympie, Queensland, is a fantastic community trail network covering around 60 hectares of remnant eucalypt forest and seasonal creek country. Around 25 km of well-maintained singletrack winds through the reserve, with riding designed for everyone from young kids and first-time mountain bikers through to experienced riders looking for jumps and technical challenges. Mountain bikers have a mixture of green, blue and black trails, including 14 one-way MTB-only descents. The harder trails incorporate jumps, drops, rocks and other technical features, with popular descents including Sideline, Gully, Double Mocha, The 4x4, Popgun, Double Espresso, Six Rocks, Dropside and Wreck It Rod. There are also around 17 km of shared-use singletrack and 5 km of fire roads, making it easy to build longer XC-style loops. Victory Heights is particularly good for families and skills progression. A dedicated 2 km kids bike track gives younger riders room to develop confidence, while a beginner-grade jump line provides an introduction to getting wheels off the ground. The network’s mix of easier trails and optional technical riding means families and groups with different skill levels can still enjoy the same destination. The Bath Terrace trailhead is well set up for a riding day, with off-street parking, public toilets, drinking water, visitor information and a bike washdown area. Shelters and picnic tables are also available near the kids track. The trails are developed and managed with significant involvement from the Cooloola Trail Care Alliance, which holds regular maintenance and trail-care days. RTS Tip: Victory Heights is a great place to progress your riding without needing to travel far from Gympie. Newer riders can start around the kids track and green trails before moving onto the blue network, while experienced riders should seek out the 14 dedicated descents for the jumps and technical features. All trails are clearly marked as either MTB-only or shared use, so watch the signage and give way appropriately on shared sections. With water, toilets and a bike wash at the trailhead, it’s also an easy place to settle in for a few hours and keep adding loops until the legs say otherwise.
